Latest version was updated today (Jan. 10, 2010). So, it looks like a “live” freeware project.

Parallels Desktop 5 for Mac Released

Parallels Desktop 5 was released. Upgrade price is $49.99. Not planning to upgrade Parallels or VMware at the moment because I rarely run VMs on my Mac these days and use the free VirtualBox when I do.

Microsoft Mesh is one of several online storage services from the software giant. Others include Skydrive (my favorite) and Office Live. The latest version of Mesh is compatible with OS X Snow Leopard.

Here’s a really odd one that seems to be related to Snow Leopard. But, there’s a twist. After installing Snow Leopard, I found I can’t upload videos to YouTube. This is not something I do often. So, I didn’t notice it until a week or more after installing Snow Leopard. This issue is true when using Safari or Firefox. However, it is only true on my iMac. And, by “my”, I literally mean the one I use. I tried it on a slightly newer iMac and my old first generation MacBook. And, YouTube uploads work fine on those two Macs. I’m not happy with the idea of rebuilding my iMac from scratch (Snow Leopard was installed as an upgrade over Leopard). But, it may come to that.

Smultron Text Auto-Wrap Not Working Correctly with Snow Leopard

Ran into a minor but annoying glitch with the Open Source Smultron text editor after upgrading to Snow Leopard. Word wrap doesn’t work correctly after the update. Text lines are shift one character to the right hiding the first character of each line outside of the left border. Forcing the first character back inside the window causes the rightmost character to be lost. This didn’t happen when using Smultron under Leopard.

Unfortunately, the lone developer decided to stop work on it earlier this year. So, I may be looking for another lightweight text editor for the Mac soon.
